In order to support the University's mission, Learning & Organizational Effectiveness (L & OE) provides opportunities for benefits-eligible employees to improve their skills and capabilities in a variety of areas. University Administration
These courses provide training in the administrative operations of the University. Courses offered include information on accounting and financial management and procurement. Courses offered by University administrative offices vary by quarter.
Workplace Skills
Workplace Skills courses provide learning opportunities for all benefits eligible staff members. We offer courses on written and oral communication skills, customer service, time management, and career development are available.
Diversity
As part of the University's ongoing commitment to creating a rich scholarly community, workshops, seminars, and classes are offered on working in an increasingly diverse setting. Topics include appreciating differences related to race, culture, age, gender, sexual orientation, and ethnicity.
Information Technology
We provide training on desktop computing in programs including MS Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite.
Management Development
We provide learning opportunities for new, mid-level, and senior managers in areas including supervision, managing departmental operations (e.g. meetings, strategic planning, and organizational change), conducting performance reviews, and creating individual growth and development plans.
Personal Development
Benefits eligible employees may attend workshops, seminars, and brown-bag lunches on topics including financial planning, wellness/personal growth, retirement planning, and more.
New Employee Orientation
Human Resource Services hosts New Employee Orientation (NEO) every Wednesday for new employees of the University. The program acquaints new employees with University mission, policies, procedures, and the campus community.
Continuing Education
L&OE partners with the Graham School of General Studies to provide certificate programs for University staff. These programs span a wide variety of topics from business-related fields to the liberal arts and sciences. Classes are offered on a part-time basis, tailored to today's busy lifestyles.
