Getting to Know UChicago Orientation

Every Wednesday, Human Resource Services hosts Getting to Know UChicago Orientation to welcome the University's staff new hires. 

During the session, staff members will receive information on the following:

• Getting to Know UChicago Process Overview
• History of the University of Chicago
• University Policies and Procedures
• Employee Services
• Campus Safety and Security
• Workplace Safety
• University Benefits for Staff

Getting to Know UChicago Orientation is held at Human Resource Services (6054 South Drexel Avenue) in room 144.  This 1/2 day program begins at 8:45 a.m. Light breakfast, coffee, tea, and water are provided.  For all new staff except Local 743 members, the 1/2 day concludes with a bus and walking tour of campus and the community. After the tour, employees will be dropped off at the main Quads, where they are encouraged to sample a wide variety of campus dining options, including an all-you-can-eat buffet at our new South Campus Dining Commons, prior to returning to their work location. Local 743 members will return to 6054 S. Drexel after an hour lunch break to attend an hour orientation conducted by a Local 743 representative.

We encourage new staff to use the campus shuttles and public transportation to and from orientation since street parking can be difficult in the area. 

Limited garage parking is available for a fee.
